SPRINGER MOUNTAIN FARMS BLUEGRASS NIGHTS AT THE RYMAN KICKS OFF JUNE 23 WITH VINCE GILL.
Annual Summer Series Celebrates Bluegrass On The Stage Where It Was Born.
Springer Mountain Farms Presents Bluegrass Nights at the Ryman kicks off Thursday with An Evening with Vince Gill at 7:30 p.m. Prior to the show, The Howling Brothers will perform as part of the Pickin’ On The Plaza series in front of the historic venue. The Plaza series is free to the public.
The series this year will feature a very special Bill Monroe 100th Birthday Celebration on July 14 with Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Bobby Osborne & the Rocky Top X-press and Sierra Hull & Highway 111. Monroe is often referred to as The Father of Bluegrass and it was on the Ryman stage where he first performed with Earl Scruggs. Those 1945 shows are credited to giving birth to the Bluegrass sound. 2011 is also the tenth anniversary of the Ryman being officially designated as the Birthplace of Bluegrass by the State of Tennessee.
